    • Rhea Boekweg Poulter, 91, died Sunday, January 18, 1998 in Ogden.

      She was born September 1, 1906 in Ogden, a daughter of Uldrik and Martha Albers Boekweg. Her father died when she was six weeks old and her mother later married Wilson Poulter.Rhea graduated from Ogden High School in 1925. She attended seminars and special classes pertaining to her various activities and employment. In November of 1925, Rhea was employed as a receptionist/secretary to the B.H. Goddard Agency, an insurance and real estate firm at which time she held a Real Estate Broker's license and was a licensed insurance agent for some of the largest insurance companies represented by her employer. In 1958, Rhea participated in establishing United Savings and Loan Association and was a member of the original board of Directors. She served as Vice-President and was a member of the board of directors in the savings division of the organization, when she retired in October of 1986.

      She was an active member of the LDS Church and at the time of her death, was a member of the Ogden 21st Ward. She had also been a member of the Kanesville Ward, the Ogden 1st and 6th Wards. She served as a Sunday School teacher and M.I.A. counselor. She also served in the Relief Society organization, was a member of the Lorin Farr Stake Relief Society Board for six years and was a visiting teacher. She had worked in the Lorin Farr Stake Spanish Names Extraction program and enjoyed attending the Temple.

      Rhea helped organize the Insurance Women's Association of Ogden (a National Organization) and served as its Charter President. She served as secretary of the Weber County Unit of the American Cancer Society for 22 years. She received various awards and recognition for her work. Rhea was a member of the Soroptimist International of Ogden for 40 years. She served as president from 1957-1958, and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Regional Board of Directors for two years. She was a life member at the time of her death.

      She was a member of the American Red Cross and served at the Union Station Canteen during World War II and received Certificates of Merit for her contributions. She was a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Organization for six years and served as secretary. Rhea served as president of the Canyon Park Homeowner's Inc. Association Board of Directors for four years. She contributed much volunteer service, including St. Anne's Mission and the Weber County Memorial Hospital and was generous in her support of worthy causes.

      Rhea loved nature, good music, good books, and traveling. She loved her family and enjoyed close relationships with each member. She loved the F. K. Goddard Family with whom she was closely associated. They were all very special to her.

      Rhea is survived by four nieces and nephews, Larry (Flora) Poulter, Ogden; Roger (Mary Jane) Poulter, San Luis Rey, Calif.; Joyce (Paul) Nelson, Layton; Joanne (Leonard) Butcher, St. George; 21 great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-great-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Hannah Poulter Fowler and her brother, Wilson Poulter, Jr.

      Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Robert Adams of the Ogden 21st Ward, officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
